Manchester United collected their first trophy

of David Moyes’ reign at Wembley on Sunday

thanks to a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the

FA Community Shield.

It was a record 16th triumph for the Reds in the

traditional curtain-raiser of the season and the perfect

way for Moyes to kick off his tenure.

Last season’s golden boot winner Robin van Persie

took just six minutes to get off the mark for the new

campaign with a superb headed finish from 14 yards,

after being found by Patrice Evra’s floated cross from

the left.
